This month has been no better than any other. At the start of the month I caught covid… this caused me to withdraw from yet another few races and it also meant time off the bike, which I hate! After a few weeks I started to feel better, better enough to get back on the bike. It started with just easy spins to get back into it, straight away I noticed the effects of having covid. I felt short breathed, fatigued and just couldn’t pedal as well as I could normally. I even found making my way upstairs difficult! But as time went on I started to get better and started to see improvements day by day. This was really good for the motivation. Now, I can complete 3-4 hour rides and intense turbo sessions which I couldn’t be more happy about. While all of this may have been hard, having some time off the bike really made me realise the intensity of my training and the time and effort put into it. Suddenly I had all day with nothing to do! The easy spins also allowed me to ride my bike purely for riding my bike, no efforts, no route, just leave the house and enjoy the sport for what it is.
With all of this said, I am feeling positive coming into next month...(I feel like I’m repeating myself🤣) I’ll be competing in many local races, as well as a British Women’s team cup race towards the end of the month. Being unable to race, made me think about the bigger picture, rather than what I was missing out on at the time. I am now focussing on an international race in Watersley - which I am super excited about🤩 This event starts in September, giving me a month to get my fitness back to where it was. You will see me on the start line very soon...🤞🏻
So glad you’re now feeling better, you’re absolutely amazing, look forward to reading how this month has panned out for you in your next post. Good luck with everything 💕💕
